I am sitting at a friend’s home in suburban New Jersey, before heading out this afternoon to a Renaissance Weekend: a gathering of 200 fascinating people, talking about fascinating stuff. More on that after the weekend.
This follows a few weeks on the road, through Copenhagen, London, and New York. I have had conversations with some very interesting people, drunk a lot of coffee, and walked a lot of steps. All in an attempt to understand and make sense of the world. And some interesting ideas are emerging, which I comment on in the subscriber only section below.
Not everything ends up in my long form writings, which are the result of the coffee, conversation and cogitation. Jonathan Rowson from Perspectiva, who writes at The Joyous Struggle, launched ‘Audio dispatches’, which prompted to create a more free flowing audio update.
That's how “thinking out loud” came about. It will be a place for subscribers, where I will share who I've been talking to—as long as it doesn't break any confidences—and what I am learning from those conversations. I may also comment on the books I am reading, and the kinds of questions that are occupying my thinking.
I’d appreciate you feedback. Especially regarding what’s been on your mind? What questions or topics are you mulling over? Add them in the comments.
In my first musing, below, you will hear about a conversation with Ole Fogh Kirkeby, who some say is the greatest Danish philosopher since Kierkegaard, a visit to Elsinore, the castle where Hamlet is set, and some current books and thinking.
If you haven't subscribed yet, and want some insights and reflections that don’t make it into the longer posts, now is a good time.
