Hi friends,
Each month a number of leaders get together over zoom for an ongoing conversation about Human-centred Leadership. Our focus tends to be on understanding what it means for us to be human, in order that we can care well for others.
This is your invitation to join our call next week, on July 25th. We will continue to explore the challenging topic of Truth and Reality, whether Truth exists, and how we might discover it.
As we are an international community, the session is held twice to accommodate as many timezones as possible:
July 25th 5.30 pm Sydney/8.30 am, London time
Repeat: July 26th 7.00 am Sydney/July 25th 5.00 pm New York time
The conversation is open to anyone, regardless of the size or extent of your role. We are all leading in some manner, including leading ourselves. When someone copies what you do, modelling their behaviour on yours—you are being a leader.
Our intention in these sessions is to lift our focus beyond the transactional aspects of leadership and engage in a meaningful discussion about the deeper principles that underpin leadership. Last month we explored Beauty:
This month, we will explore Truth. As leaders, our ability to discern and communicate the truth is foundational to fostering environments where people can truly flourish, and a key to performance. If we cannot agree on the facts of the matter, how can we agree on shared action? At the same time, how do we care for people who have a different understanding of truth? In the context of the seismic changes impacting business, government, and civil society, this skill is more crucial than ever.
During this session, we will:
Explore the Concept of Truth: What is truth, and what does the notion of "my truth" and "your truth" mean?
Distinguish Between Truth, Perspective, and Opinion: Understanding these differences helps in our conversations with others.
A model for discovering truth: We will consider a simple model, with a set of questions, that can help us get nearer to the truth.
The session will mix learning and breakout conversations, allowing us to grapple with these big issues together. Your contributions are invaluable to our collective learning journey. It would be a delight to meet you there.
I am looking forward to seeing you next week, in what promises to be a very thought-provoking session.
Warm regards,
Anthony
